ABOUT US

DR. JOSHUA GLADSTEIN OTR/L

I started my career by helping older adults transition back into society by providing rehabilitation in nursing homes. After over three transformative years, I began working with children in the pediatric occupational therapy setting. Over the past two years, I have helped create, develop, and carry out school-based occupational therapy in four small private schools in the greater Seattle area. During this time I learned how to effectively integrate occupational therapy into the school setting, collaborate with teachers, and support students in their natural environment.

I specialize in helping students thrive in natural environments—classrooms, gyms, and even at home. I’m experienced with a wide range of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, attention-related challenges, and sensory processing disorders. I also support students without formal diagnoses who face daily functional challenges.

I am passionate about understanding each student’s unique strengths, helping them reach personal goals, and equipping them with skills that last well beyond the school years.I believe that building student buy-in starts with creating a friendly and engaging environment. By incorporating exciting games, motivating movement, and fun activities into my sessions, I help students enjoy the learning process—making it more likely they'll internalize skills and stay motivated to grow.

How it works

We implement a collaborative care approach that completes a circle of care around your child. From individual meetings with parents and teachers our Occupational Therapists can gain a clearer understanding of your child's individuals needs when putting together a customized treatment plan. Most importantly we meet 1-on-1 with your child to put all the pieces together before administering care.

Glad Horizons will then work with you and your child’s school to find the best time and place for us to meet, evaluate, and work with your child on a weekly basis.

3

Evaluation, Goals, & Planning

The first two sessions will consist of a multi-faceted evaluation with your child. We will write  and share our evaluation and goals, and then meet again with you to discuss the plan of care moving forward.

4

Weekly Student OT Sessions

Your child will begin regular weekly OT sessions and you will receive consistent communication, updates, and progress reports on your child’s growth, what we are working on, and ways to incorporate our progress at home as well.

Core Services Offered

Get your child the care they need from the comfort of their schools campus.

Executive Functioning Skills

We nurture students in developing essential executive functioning skills such as attention, processing, organization, time management, and self-regulation.

Sensory Processing & Regulation

We support each student's unique sensory diets by supporting them via a variety of sensory systems. I have a passion for engaging students with individualized vestibular, tactile, and proprioceptive needs.

Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s)

We take the time to support every student in building the necessary sensory, physical, and emotional skills needed to engage in every-day tasks such as getting dressed, engaging with meal times, and participating in activities of choice such as sports, arts & crafts, and riding a bike just to name a few!

Family Engagement

We pride ourselves on effective communication between therapists and family members. While OT sessions may be at school, it is imperative to keep family members informed on what is happening to promote consistency between a student's different environments.

Environmental Modifications

We have the opportunity to observe students in a variety of environments such as the classroom, lunch space, at recess, and more. As each of these settings can provide unique experiences, each can be modified to support the individualized needs of every student.
